Some Tips for Good Health

Good Morning!

Perhaps you've noticed that this year, Nature has brought us more windy days.  And perhaps you've noticed feelings of restlessness or anxiety.  Disturbed sleep may bother you.  Headaches or abdominal discomfort for some.

These subtle changes reflect imbalances in our bodies that result from stress in the world, societally, globally, locally.  We can't control everything that impacts us, but we can do a few things to help minimize the amount of precious vital energy (Qi) we give away.

Here a few tips that work for me and are easy to implement:

  1.  Cut down on your screen time, particularly your attention to the news, and notice how you feel when you do limit your intake.  This will minimize the amount that your body has to digest.

  2. Eat warming foods and avoid raw vegetables as they are harder for your digestive system.

  3. Avoid spending long periods of time outside on those windy days.

  4. Avoid drinking icy cold beverages.  Room temperature is best, even on hot summer days.

  5. Avoid heavy meals in the evening as this energy consuming digestion late in the day will affect the quality of your sleep.  Sleep is the time when your body does the work of healing and restoring balance.

  6. Spend some time every day out in Nature.  Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing) is one of my favorite activities.  Remember that saying "Hug a tree"?  Look it up if you don't.

  7. Meditate.  Practice Qigong or other gentle movements.

  8. Lastly, and this one is a favorite, SMILE.  From your heart.  You'll be glad you did.  It has amazing benefits

With love and gratitude and hopes for peace for all,

Esther
